The Tokyo ATP indoor tournament (officially most recently Seiko Super Tennis ) is a former men's tennis tournament that was held from 1978 to 1995 in Tokyo , Japan . The game was played on carpet in the hall until the end. Until 1989 it was part of the Grand Prix Tennis Circuit and with a prize money of half a million dollars at the time it was also one of the larger tournaments in the series. From 1990 it was part of the newly established ATP Tour and belonged (with even higher prize money) to the second highest tournament category, the ATP Championship Series , the previous series of the ATP International Series Gold and the ATP World Tour 500, until it was discontinued .
The record winner in the singles is Ivan Lendl , who won the tournament five times. In doubles, the couples Grant Connell / Patrick Galbraith and Victor Amaya / Hank Pfister were able to win the tournament twice (just like Sherwood Stewart , but with different partners) and are thus record holders.
