economy
Rennaz was a predominantly agricultural village until the second half of the 20th century . Even today, arable farming and fruit growing have a certain place in the income structure of the population in the Rhône plain. Further jobs are available in local small businesses and in the service sector. A commercial zone has emerged in recent years to the north of the town near the motorway. In the last few decades the village has developed into a residential community. Many workers are commuters who work mainly in the Vevey-Montreux region.

The community is very well developed in terms of transport. It was on the main road 9 , which leads from Lausanne via Montreux into Valais . With the construction of the A9 motorway (Lausanne-Sion), which opened in 1970, a local bypass was created on the one hand, and the former Rennaz airport on the other. The next connection to the A9 is only 1 km from the town center. Rennaz is connected to the public transport network through a postbus course that runs from Villeneuve to Vouvry .
history
The first written mention of the place took place in 1255 under the name Raina . Later the names Reyna (1272), Renna (1276), Reynaz (1420) and Reyne (1542) appeared. The place name is probably derived from the old French word raine (frog).
Rennaz has been under the Count of Savoy since the Middle Ages . With the conquest of Aigle by Bern in 1476, the village came under the administration of the Aigle governorate . After the collapse of the Ancien Régime , Rennaz belonged to the canton of Léman from 1798 to 1803 during the Helvetic Republic , which then became part of the canton of Vaud when the mediation constitution came into force . In 1798 it was assigned to the Aigle district. It was not until 1834 that Rennaz became an independent political municipality after it was separated from Noville .
