Per Henrik Magnus Larsson (born March 25, 1970 in Olofström ) is a former Swedish tennis player .

Career

He was a professional tennis player from 1989 to 2003 and won seven individual titles in his career and the Grand Slam Cup in Munich in 1994 with a final victory over Pete Sampras . He reached his highest world ranking position in 1995 with tenth place. His best performance in Grand Slam tournaments was the semi-finals at the 1994 French Open . Against Alberto Berasategui he was then without a set win. In doubles he won six titles in his career and achieved his best placement with rank 26 in January 1995. At the French Open 1995 he reached the final with Nicklas Kulti that the two lost against Jacco Eltingh and Paul Haarhuis in three sets. In 1992 he took part in the Olympic Games in Barcelona , where he was eliminated in the round of 16 against Emilio Sánchez Vicario .

With the Swedish team he won the Davis Cup in 1994 , 1997 and 1998 . In the 1994 final, Sweden won 4-1 against Russia , Larsson won his games against Evgeni Kafelnikow and Alexander Volkov . In 1997, he also played two individual games in the 5-0 win against the United States . He initially benefited from Pete Sampras ' injury-related resignation before defeating Michael Chang in the last game . In 1998, after playing in the first round against Slovakia and in the quarter-finals against Germany , he was not used in the final.
