The Birmingham ATP tournament (officially the Birmingham Open ) is a former men's tennis tournament that took place once in 1991 in the British city of Birmingham . The game was played on carpet in the hall.
The tournament, which was scheduled for November and was one of the last tournaments on the tour calendar, was part of the ATP World Series , the predecessor of the ATP World Tour 250 . Although this was the lowest category on the ATP Tour , the tournament had a relatively high prize money of $ 450,000.
An international tennis tournament, the AEGON Classic , still takes place in Birmingham . The women's tournament is part of the WTA Tour and is played on grass.
