Steven Swirko

Steven Swirko (* 1984 near Stuttgart ) is a German film producer and documentary director .

Life

After the son of an American soldier had spent the first years of his life in the United States, his family moved to Berlin in 1988. After graduating from high school, he worked as a director and production assistant in various film productions. Finally he completed an apprenticeship as a businessman for audiovisual media under Frank Lukas at south & browse GmbH in Berlin . After completing his training, he became an assistant to the production manager at Deutsche Fernsehwerke GmbH , where he produced several commercials . From 2009 to 2015 he studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts / Film Academy Vienna in the subjects of production and screenwriting. There he produced, among other things, the short film Redemption (director: Mark Gerstorfer) and was involved as production manager on Hüseyin Tabaks Your Beauty is Worthless (including winner of four Austrian film awards in 2014). The film he produced, Ketchup Kid (director: Patrick Vollrath) won the 2013 award in the “Best Short Film / Series / Series” category at the German Children's Media Festival Goldener Spatz . He made his directorial debut with the documentary Michael S., Gathered , which was also awarded several prizes.
