Mark Siegfried Gerstorfer (born 1979 in Hallein ) is an Austrian film director .

Life

Mark Gerstorfer grew up in Austria and Bavaria. As a child attended a convent school. After an apprenticeship as a chemical technician , he graduated from high school in Altötting in Upper Bavaria. He studied photography at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna before studying directing with Michael Haneke at the Vienna Film Academy . He received the START grant from the Federal Chancellery and the annual grant from the State of Salzburg . It completed its directing studies at the Vienna Film Academy in the master class for directing with distinction. Mark Gerstorfer lives and works in Vienna.

His film Redemption has been shown at numerous international film festivals and has won several awards. He also filmed the comic TNT - a boxer story by the Austrian comic author Nicolas Mahler . The main role played the two-time boxing world champion Graciano Rocchigiani . It was Graciano Rocchigiani's only appearance as an actor in a film. He died in a traffic accident shortly after the world premiere at the Montreal World Film Festival. The film had its German premiere at the Hof Film Festival.
