Ulihrach started playing tennis at the age of 14 and turned professional at 18. He won his first major title in Prague in July 1995 when he defeated Javier Sánchez in the final. His second followed three months later in Montevideo ; there he defeated Alberto Berasategui in the final .

In 1996 Ulihrach was part of the Czech team that took second place in the World Team Cup . The highlight of his career is the achievement of 22nd place in the ATP world rankings in May 1997. The following year, Ulihrach won the Umag tournament by beating Magnus Norman in the final .

In 1999, he reached the round of 16 at both the Australian Open and the French Open . In May 2003 Ulihrach was banned for two years for doping. The ban was lifted a short time later, however, because he had consumed the banned substance nandrolone with an electrolyte drink that had been given to him by an ATP physiotherapist.

In the 2012 season Ulihrach played in the German tennis Bundesliga (men 30) for the Turnerbund Erlangen. Since 2015 he has been playing with his former Davis Cup partner Jiří Novák at the TC BW Bohlsbach in the men's 40 regional tennis league southwest.
