The Swiss Indoors Basel 2011 was a tennis tournament that took place from October 31 to November 6, 2011 in Basel . It was part of the ATP World Tour 2011 and was played indoors on a hard court. In the same week, the Valencia Open was played in Valencia , which, like the Swiss Indoors Basel, belonged to the ATP World Tour 500 category . The venue for the tournament was the St. Jakobshalle , which is located just behind the Basel city limits in Münchenstein .

Roger Federer was able to defend his title with a two-set win over Kei Nishikori . He won the title in his hometown for the fifth time after 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2010. Overall, it was the 68th ATP title of his career, but only the second in 2011. Nishikori, who started with a wildcard , had defeated, among others, Tomáš Berdych , who was ranked 4th, and world number one Novak .oković on the way to his second ATP final this season . In doubles in 2010, Bob and Mike Bryan won the title, but they did not defend their title. In this year's final, the top seeded Michaël Llodra and Nenad Zimonjić prevailed in two sets against Max Mirny and Daniel Nestor and thus reciprocated for the defeat in the final three weeks earlier in Shanghai . This was their fourth joint title this season.

The field of participants in the individual competition consisted of 32 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The total prize money was EUR 1,308,100, the total financial liabilities were EUR 1,838,100.
