The Medibank International Sydney 2011 was a tennis tournament that took place from January 9th to 14th, 2011 in Sydney . It was part of the 2011 ATP World Tour and was played outdoors on hard courts. In the same week, the Heineken Open was played in Auckland , which, like Medibank International Sydney, was part of the ATP World Tour 250 category .

Defending champion in the singles was Marcos Baghdatis , but he could not compete due to a groin injury. In this year's final, Gilles Simon prevailed against Viktor Troicki . In doubles Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjić were the defending champions, but they did not compete together this year. It won Lukáš Dlouhý and Paul Hanley their second joint title in the at that time still young season.

The field of participants in the single competition consisted of 28 players, that of the double competition consisted of 16 pairs. The four top seeded players in the singles each got a bye into the second round. The total prize pool was $ 422,300 and total financial liabilities were $ 474,050.

The qualification took place from January 7th to 9th, 2011. Four qualifying places were played, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament. There was also a lucky loser.
