In the spring of 2008 Schwank won three Challenger tournaments in a row in Cremona , Rome and Bordeaux , making him the first time into the top 100 of the world rankings. An incident occurred in Bordeaux when a fire broke out in the hotel in which he was staying. He was uninjured, but lost his laptop, passport, all clothing and the prize money check from the previous tournament in Rome. Since the fire broke out in his room, he was subsequently accused of being responsible for the fire. At the following French Open Eduardo Schwank was able to qualify for the first time for the main draw of a Grand Slam tournament. There he defeated the former world number one Carlos Moyá in five sets in the first round . After another victory over Marcel Granollers , he was finally eliminated in the third round against Paul-Henri Mathieu . At the end of October, Schwank reached an ATP final for the second time in Montpellier together with Marc López , but they lost in a close match.
