life and career

Prodon, who had moderate success on the Future Tour from 1998, made it to the quarterfinals in his first tournament in May 2000 on the ATP Challenger Tour in Edinburgh . In the same year he took part in the French Open for the first time, but retired in round one in four sets against the Brazilian Fernando Meligeni . He played his first final in June 2001 at a future tournament in Turin against the Russian Igor Konstantinowitsch Kunitsyn , against whom he clearly lost 4: 6, 1: 6. A week later he made it to the finals again in Kassel , where he was defeated by Mike Scheidweiler from Luxembourg in three sets.

In 2002 Prodon took part again in the French Open, but suffered a clear defeat in the first round against the American Andre Agassi (3: 6, 3: 6, 1: 6). At the ATP tournament in Buenos Aires in February 2003, he was eliminated in round one against the Peruvian Luis Horna . In April he won his only match at ATP level against Rubén Ramírez Hidalgo at the tournament in Casablanca (7: 6, 6: 2); in lap two he failed to Olivier Mutis from France.

In May 2004 he won his first future tournament in Edinburgh with a 6: 4, 6: 3 final victory over the Spaniard Daniel Muñoz de La Nava . He won another Future title in Trier in July of the same year against the Belgian Steve Darcis (final result: 6: 3, 6: 3). A week later he reached his first Challenger final in Tampere , but he was defeated by the Serb Boris Pašanski 2: 6, 6: 3, 3: 6.

In February 2006 Prodon was able to participate in an ATP tournament in Buenos Aires again, but lost to Rubén Ramírez Hidalgo 6: 3, 4: 6, 2: 6.

Further successes followed on the Future Tour. In August 2007 Prodon finally won his first Challenger tournament in Tampere with a final victory over Peter Luczak from Australia ; he also reached the finals in Manerbio and Freudenstadt . He won other Challenger titles in Miami in 2008 , in Tampere and in Brașov in 2010 and in Bucaramanga in 2011 .

In February 2008, Prodon was eliminated in Costa do Sauípe in the first qualifying round against Marc López . A week later he fought his way through qualifying in Buenos Aires, but lost in round one to Óscar Hernández . Another week later, in Acapulco , the second qualifying round was over. In the same year Prodon took part again in the French Open, but failed in the opening round with 5: 7, 6: 7, 6: 7 to Ivan Ljubičić . In Stuttgart and Kitzbühel he was also eliminated in round 1.

In January 2009 Prodon competed in qualifying for the Australian Open ; he defeated Conor Niland , before he clearly defeated Flavio Cipolla in round 2 with 0: 6, 4: 6. In the same year he competed in qualifying for the French Open, but there too, round two ended. Further attempts to qualify for an ATP tournament followed, but it wasn't until 2011 that he made it into the first round of the French Open after beating Carsten Ball , Agustín Velotti and Andreas Beck . In the first round, however, he met the big favorite Andy Murray , against whom he lost 4: 6, 1: 6, 3: 6.

Double

In doubles, Prodon won his first and only Challenger title in Tangier in February 2009 without losing a set at the side of his compatriot Augustin Gensse . At the Grand Slam level, he played for the first time in May 2000 at the French Open with his partner Thierry Guardiola , but the duo lost in round one with 1: 6, 2: 6 against Julien Benneteau and Nicolas Mahut . In 2002 Prodon competed again at the French Open with Thierry Ascione , but again it was over against Wayne Ferreira and Jan-Michael Gambill in round one. In 2008 the third attempt followed together with Laurent Recouderc , but this time Jonathan Erlich and Andy Ram proved to be too strong. In 2001 the last appearance at ATP level followed, but Prodon and his partner Olivier Patience failed in round one to Pablo Andújar and Daniel Gimeno Traver .
