Urachiche is a village in the Venezuelan state of Yaracuy . In 2001 it had 18,210 inhabitants. It is the administrative seat of the eponymous district of Urachiche .
history
The village was founded in 1610 in a place where Caquetío Indians lived.
Several battles took place in this region during the Federal War . The government troops led by Nicolás Torrellas occupied the village in 1862. In March he defeated the troops of federalist Antonio Mendoza. In November of the same year there was another battle between the federalists led by José Desiderio Trías and the government troops led by Martiliano Romero, Adolfo Olivo, the Chingo and Torrellas.
