Peter Kris Luczak (born August 31, 1979 in Warsaw ) is a Polish- Australian former tennis player .

Career

Luczak was born in Warsaw and moved to Melbourne with his family when he was 9 months old . When he was 5 years old, his father made him play tennis. He had little success on the Junior Tour, and he didn't get any support from Tennis Australia or sponsors. Eventually he received a scholarship to California State University , where he studied finance and holds the college's record for the most winning series of tennis matches in college tennis . Between 1998 and 2001 he was unbeaten 27 games in a row.

Luczak won four future tournaments in 2001 after turning pro the previous year. In July 2002 he won his first Challenger tournament in Granby, Canada . Peter Luczak won 19 Challengers in his career, 12 of them in singles. Of these titles, he won 14 on clay and 5 on hard court.

He played his first Grand Slam tournament in 2003 at the Australian Open , where he immediately reached the third round and lost to Mario Ančić there . At the tournament in Costa do Sauípe in 2005 he reached a semi-finals in singles for the only time in his career. There he lost to Alberto Martín . Luczak celebrated his greatest success on the ATP World Tour in 2008 when he reached the finals of the tournament in Buenos Aires , where he and his partner Werner Eschauer lost to Agustín Calleri and Luis Horna . In 2007 he was in the top 100 of the world rankings for the first time, in 2008 he had to pause for a few months due to an injury and fell back. In 2009, in his best season in October, he finally achieved his highest ranking with a 64th place.

At the Commonwealth Games 2010 , Luczak won the gold medal together with Paul Hanley in the double competition. They defeated the Englishmen Ross Hutchins and Ken Skupski in the final .

After losing the first round in doubles at the Australian Open 2012 , Luczak ended his career. In 2015 he played another tournament in the future category in Lecco , Italy , which he won, and the Challenger tournament in Tallahassee in 2016 , where he reached the final - both in doubles. There he played with his student Marc Polmans , whom he trained just like Blake Mott .

In 2005 Luczak gave his premiere for the Australian Davis Cup team . For them he has a score of 4: 6 in 7 matches.

Personal

Luczak is married to the noblewoman Anna Catarina Ericsdotter Queckfeldt, a granddaughter of the Olympic third party Maud von Rosen . They have a son and live on the Mornington Peninsula , Australia.
