Ross Dan Hutchins (born February 22, 1985 in Wimbledon ) is a former British tennis player from England .
life and career
Russ Hutchins is the son of former British Davis Cup player and captain Paul Hutchins . After Ross won the British doubles championship in 2001 with partner James Smith , he turned pro in 2002.
Hutchins rarely played singles in his professional days and focused on doubles. There he drew attention to himself and was able to finish the year in the top 100 of the double rankings in 2007. The following year he won with Stephen Huss against the fourth-placed Mahesh Bhupathi and Mark Knowles in the first round at the French Open. Together they won the ATP tournament in Beijing at the end of the year . These successes brought Hutchins drafts into the British Davis Cup team , where he was able to win a game. At the Commonwealth Games 2010 he won the silver medal in doubles on the side of Ken Skupski .
In late 2012, Ross Hutchins was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma , which is why he interrupted his career. At the beginning of the 2014 season he made his comeback, again at the side of Colin Fleming , with whom he won three titles from 2011 and played another final. In May 2014 he was in the final with Fleming in Munich again, before ending his career in September.
