Serhij Eduardowytsch Stachowskyj ( Ukrainian Сергій Едуардович Стаховський [serˈɦiɪ̯ stɑˈxɔu̯sʲkɪɪ̯] , born January 6, 1986 in Kiev , Ukrainian SSR , Soviet Union ) is a Ukrainian tennis player .
Career
The right-hander began his professional career in 2003 and has so far won four singles and three doubles titles on the ATP World Tour .
In the spring of the 2008 season he won the tournament in Zagreb , although he only came into the main draw as a lucky loser, and towards the end of the year he won the double title in Moscow together with Potito Starace . In 2009 , again in Russia, he achieved his second individual success at the tournament in St. Petersburg .
In June 2010 he won his third ATP title in 's-Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands , his first on grass, and thus improved to the top 50 of the ATP world rankings . He won his fourth individual title in August 2010 in New Haven . In February 2011, Stachowskyj won a title in the ATP World Tour 500 category for the first time in Dubai together with Mikhail Juschny .
In 2013 he caused a sensation at Wimbledon when he defeated defending champion Roger Federer in four sets in the second round.
Since 2006 he has played for the Ukrainian Davis Cup team ; in his 55 Davis Cup games he was able to celebrate 34 wins.
