Gonçalo Oliveira (born February 17, 1995 in Porto ) is a Portuguese tennis player .

Career

Gonçalo Oliveira mainly plays tournaments on the lower class ITF Future Tour and ATP Challenger Tour . At the beginning of his career he initially only played tournaments on the third-class Future Tour without achieving any major success. In March 2014 he made it into the top 1000 in the world rankings in doubles , and finally in singles in May. That year he also won his first three double titles on the Future Tour. He was able to improve further in the world rankings and was 413rd in doubles at the end of the year.

In 2015 he won further doubles titles and his first singles title, so that in the latter he achieved a new best place with 541st place. In doubles he made his debut on the Challenger Tour in March 2016 in Saint-Brieuc alongside Sander Arends , but lost his first game. After he was also unable to make his next three appearances on the Challenger Tour successfully, he managed a little surprise in Lisbon in 2017 when he advanced to the finals with Frederico Gil and Ruan Roelofse and Christopher Rungkat met after a tight first set in two sets had to give up. In the singles of the same tournament, thanks to a wildcard, he was also in a main field for the first time and made it into the round of 16. At the end of the year he achieved his best individual placement to date with 194th place.

After losing in the final in Poznan , Lima and Bangkok , he achieved his first double triumph on the Challenger Tour in April 2018. In Ostrava he moved into the final with the Hungarian Attila Balázs as fourth seeded pairing, where he defeated the duo Lukáš Rosol and Serhij Stachowskyj in two sets . He won his second title even more confidently by winning the tournament in Schymkent with his partner Lorenzo Giustino without losing a set . After this success he was 109th in doubles, better than ever before in his career.
