Lucas Miedler (born June 21, 1996 in Tulln an der Donau ) is an Austrian tennis player .
Career
Miedler celebrated his greatest success in 2014 when he won the junior doubles competition in Melbourne . With Bradley Mousley he won against Quentin Halys and Johan Tatlot in straight sets. Last year he made it into the final, where he lost to Maximilian Marterer Mousley and Jay Andrijic . His best placement was 14th in the junior ranking.
Miedler has been playing regularly with the professionals since 2015; so far mainly on the ITF Future Tour and the ATP Challenger Tour . That year he reached six individual futures finals, one of which he was able to win. He won 13 doubles titles. In 2015 he made his debut on the ATP World Tour at the Erste Bank Open in Vienna . After qualifying, he lost to Ernests Gulbis 3: 6, 6: 2, 3: 6 in the opening round . At the end of the year he was in the top 400 in the world rankings .
In 2016 and 2017, he continued to play mostly futures - three titles - and occasionally tried his hand at qualifying for Challengers. In İzmir he reached a Challenger quarter-finals in singles for the first time. He did not make a decisive breakthrough in the ranking. Only in doubles was he able to record a new career high with 204th place in July 2017. He got some good results in 2018 starting with four Future titles that gave him enough points to attack on the Challenger Tour. There he moved into his first final in Winnipeg , in which he was defeated by Jason Kubler with only two game wins. In St. Petersburg he also moved into his second main field of the ATP Tour. In October it was listed highest in the world rankings at number 201.
Miedler won his first title on the Challenger Tour in León when he triumphed in doubles alongside his compatriot Sebastian Ofner . In singles and doubles he is about to move into the top 200 in the world.
