Maximilian Marterer (born June 15, 1995 in Nuremberg ) is a German tennis player .

Career

Maximilian Marterer mainly plays on the ATP Challenger Tour and the ITF Future Tour . So far he has won eleven tournaments on the Future Tour, as well as six singles and two doubles on the Challenger Tour. In 2013 he reached the semi-finals of the junior competition at Wimbledon .

After winning the tournament in Eckental , he made it into the top 100 of the world rankings for the first time in November 2017 . At the Australian Open 2018 he only had to admit defeat in the third round against Tennys Sandgren 7: 5, 3: 6, 5: 7, 6: 7 (5: 7). In Roland Garros , he reached the second round five months later when he played for the first time in the main field, in which he was defeated by Rafael Nadal .

In the first tennis league he competed in 2017 for TK Kurhaus Aachen and in 2018 and 2019 for TK Grün-Weiss Mannheim .
