Attila Balázs (born September 27, 1988 in Budapest ) is a Hungarian tennis player .

Career

Balázs has not been able to achieve any major successes in his young career. He has already won several future tournaments in both singles and doubles . On the Challenger Tour he has won one title each in singles and doubles. In Palermo he prevailed in the final against Martin Fischer in three sets in 2010 , while in 2008 he won the doubles competition in Banja Luka alongside his coach Amir Hadad . The success in Palermo promoted Balázs to 153rd place in the world rankings, which was his highest ranking so far. In 2010 he also took part in the qualifications for the main fields of the French Open and US Open , but did not get beyond the first round. The following year he made another attempt at the French Open to qualify for a Grand Slam . But this time too he failed in the first qualifying round.

On the ATP World Tour in 2012 at the tournament in Bucharest, he qualified for the peloton for the first time. In the first round, Balázs, listed on rank 450 in the world rankings, defeated the Slovak Lukáš Lacko , who was on rank 64, in three sets. In the last sixteen he met Potito Starace , number 76 in the world, and clearly got the upper hand in two sets. With the Belgian Xavier Malisse , he finally defeated a top 50 player for the first time when he defeated Malisse , who was listed in 45th place, in three sets in the quarter-finals.
