The BRD Năstase Țiriac Trophy 2012 was a tennis tournament that took place from April 23 to 29, 2012 in Bucharest . It was part of the ATP World Tour 2012 and was played on clay court. In the same week the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell was played in Barcelona . However, in contrast to the BRD Năstase Țiriac Trophy, which only belonged to the ATP World Tour 250 category, the latter belonged to the ATP World Tour 500 category .

In 2011 the tournament took place in September, with Florian Mayer in singles and Daniele Bracciali and Potito Starace in doubles. Mayer stepped up to defend his title, but already lost his opening game. In this year's final, top seeded Gilles Simon met Fabio Fognini , who had reached an ATP final for the first time in his career. Simon prevailed in two sets and won the title at this tournament for the third time after 2007 and 2008. This was his first title this year, and in total it was the tenth title of his career in twelve ATP finals. The biggest surprise of the tournament was the 22-year-old Hungarian Attila Balázs , who as a qualifier on his ATP debut immediately reached the semi-finals.

The double winners of the previous year, Bracciali and Starace, were eliminated in the first round. In this year's double-final, the top seeded Robert Lindstedt and Horia Tecău met Jérémy Chardy and Łukasz Kubot and won their first title of the year in straight sets. Overall, it was their seventh joint ATP title, for Lindstedt it was the 13th title of his career, for Tecau the tenth.

The field of participants in the single competition consisted of 28 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The four top seeded players in the singles each got a bye into the second round.
