The St. Petersburg Open 2012 was a tennis tournament that took place from September 17th to 23rd, 2012 in Saint Petersburg . It was part of the ATP World Tour 2012 and was played indoors on a hard court. In the same week, the Moselle Open was played in Metz , which, like the St. Petersburg Open, belonged to the ATP World Tour 250 category .

The defending champion in the singles was Marin Čilić , who did not take part in the tournament this year. In the final, Martin Kližan , who was in a final on the ATP World Tour for the first time , won over Fabio Fognini , who could not win the title in his second ATP final either. In doubles, Colin Fleming and Ross Hutchins were the defending champions. They were seeded as number two, but were eliminated in the quarterfinals against the Slovaks Martin Kližan and Filip Polášek . In the final, the top seeded duo Rajeev Ram and Nenad Zimonjić prevailed against Lukáš Lacko and Igor Zelenay . This was their first joint title and through this third tournament victory in St. Petersburg Zimonjić became the sole record winner of the doubles competition of the tournament.

The field of participants in the individual competition consisted of 32 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs.
