Andrei Alexejewitsch Jakowlew ( Russian Андрей Алексеевич Яковлев ; born August 18, 1992 in Saint Petersburg ) is a Russian tennis player .

Career

Yakovlev, who started tennis at the age of seven, played tournaments on the ITF Junior Tour until 2010 and was able to achieve his best placement in the junior world rankings with rank 181 at the beginning of the year.

Yakovlev played rarely and irregularly with the professionals. He twice took part in a tournament on the ATP World Tour . In 2010 and 2012 he lost significantly in doubles with his partner Alexander Schurbin . Just as with his other tournament participation in the qualification of tournaments of the ATP Challenger Tour , he always had to rely on wildcards from the tournament officials. He did not win a match in Challenger qualifiers and often received the maximum penalty of 6-0, 6-0. In the world rankings , he was only able to place himself outside the top 1000 in singles and doubles.
