Last year's winner in the individual was Jo-Wilfried Tsonga , who did not take part in the tournament this year. In the final, the top seeded Argentine Juan Martín del Potro met the qualifier Grega Žemlja . Del Potro won in straight sets 7-5 and 6-3. For him it was already the third title and his 12th title in his career this year. In doubles, the brothers Bob and Mike Bryan were the defending champions, but they too did not participate in the tournament this year. It won Andre Begemann and Martin Emmrich , which in the final, the duo Julian Knowle and Filip Polášek defeated.
The field of participants in the single competition consisted of 28 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The four top seeded players each received a bye into the second round.
The qualification took place from October 13-15, 2012. Four qualifying places were played, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament.
At the Erste Bank Open 2012, the following prize money and world ranking points were paid out or credited for reaching the respective round. Players who entered the main field from qualification received the specified qualification points in addition to those for reaching the respective round. Otherwise the amounts are not to be understood as cumulative. The amounts for the double competition apply per player.
