Ruben Bemelmans (born January 14, 1988 in Genk ) is a Belgian tennis player .

Career

Bemelmans has so far been particularly successful on the Challenger Tour . He has already won the Challenger tournament in Wolfsburg twice and also celebrated his first double title on German soil. Together with compatriot Igor Sijsling , he was victorious at the tournament in Aachen .

He made his Grand Slam debut in 2011 at Wimbledon , where he was eliminated in the first round. Together with Justine Henin , Bemelmans finished second at the Hopman Cup in early 2011 . In the final they were defeated by the Americans Bethanie Mattek-Sands and John Isner . At the ATP World Tournament in Los Angeles 2012, Bemelmans won his first ATP title: Together with compatriot Xavier Malisse , he defeated the British Jamie Delgado and Ken Skupski in the final of the doubles competition in three sets.

He has been playing for the Belgian Davis Cup team since 2008 .
