Tim Pütz (born November 19, 1987 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German tennis player .

Personal

Tim Pütz graduated from high school in 2007 . He then studied economics thanks to a tennis scholarship at Auburn University in Auburn , Alabama . He graduated with a bachelor's degree .

Career

Tim Pütz mainly plays on the ATP Challenger Tour and the ITF Future Tour . So far he has celebrated six single and four double victories on the Future Tour. He won four doubles tournaments on the Challenger Tour in 2013 and 2014. On June 24, 2013, he broke through the top 250 of the world rankings in singles for the first time, and his highest ranking was 163rd in February 2015.

On August 20, 2013 Tim Pütz had to accept a golden set in the first qualifying round of the US Open against Julian Reister when he lost the third set after 22 minutes without a single point win. The game ended 7: 6 (7: 3), 4: 6 and 0: 6. In the 2014 season he successfully qualified for a Grand Slam tournament for the first time at Wimbledon . On his debut, he defeated Teimuras Gabashvili in four sets in the opening round , but was eliminated in the second round against Fabio Fognini .

Pütz made his debut for the German Davis Cup team in 2017 .

He won his first title on the ATP World Tour in Stuttgart in 2018 . Together with Philipp Petzschner , he received a wild card for the double field, where they prevailed in the final against the duo Robert Lindstedt and Marcin Matkowski in two sets.
