Pawel Wjatscheslawowitsch Kotow ( Russian Павел Вячеславович Котов ; born November 18, 1998 in Moscow ) is a Russian tennis player .

Career

Professional tour

Kotow played on the ITF Junior Tour until mid-2016. He achieved his best position in the junior world rankings with 34th place and played in two Junior Grand Slam tournaments this year .

On the professional tour, from 2016, Kotow will initially play tournaments on the lower-class Future , on which he won three individual titles in 2017, which meant that he was able to finish the year in the top 500 of the world rankings for the first time . In the following years he gradually increased the ranking. In 2018 he reached a Challenger quarter- finals for the first time in Astana . A week later in Liberec he reached the semi-finals. After reaching the semi-finals again in Koblenz in 2019 , he was able to compete mainly at Challengers from now on. In October of the same year in Segovia he reached the final for the first time, in which he was defeated by Nicola Kuhn . In doubles, Kotow made his first entry into a Challenger final in Helsinki at the end of 2019 . At the side of Roman Safiullin in February 2020 in Cherbourg , he was finally able to book his first tournament victory.
