Evgeni Konstantinowitsch Karlowski ( Russian Евге́ний Константи́нович Карло́вский ; English transcription Evgeny Konstantinovich Karlovskiy ; born August 7, 1994 in Moscow ) is a Russian tennis player .

Career

Karlowski, who first practiced tennis at the age of five, already played on the ITF Junior Tour and took part in all junior editions of the Grand Slam tournaments there in 2011 . In doubles, he reached the quarter-finals in Melbourne and Paris and achieved his best ranking in the junior ranking with 37th place.

After finishing his junior career, Karlowski regularly took part in ITF Future Tour tournaments from 2013 onwards . A semi-final on this and a few appearances on the ATP Challenger Tour made him finish the year in the top 1000 of the world rankings for the first time . In 2014 he won his first two doubles titles, two more and the first two singles titles in 2015. In the world rankings he improved so steadily that at the end of 2016 he was listed at 440 in singles and 394 in doubles. This allowed him to take part in Challengers more often, but only won three matches in 2017. He continued to score most of his points from futures, where he won a total of seven singles and ten doubles titles by 2018.

Success was set for the Russian Challengers in July 2017 in doubles when he reached the final in Almaty with Yevgeny Tyurnev . He succeeded in doing this individually in Winnetka a year later . Here he won his final match against Jason Jung with 6: 3 and 6: 2, after he had never come out of a quarter-finals at Challengers. After the tournament he was at his highest position in the world rankings with 220th place. In doubles, he had achieved his best score of 336 a month earlier.
