Jaume Antoni Munar Clar (born May 5, 1997 in Santanyí ) is a Spanish tennis player .

Personal

Munar started playing tennis when he was eight. He has a sister. Rafael Nadal is his role model and sand is his favorite surface. In addition to Spanish, he speaks Catalan and English.

Career

In 2014 Munar lost the junior final of the French Open against Andrei Rublev in straight sets. A year later he won the double competition of the French Open with Álvaro López San Martín in straight sets.

He mainly plays on the Future Tour , where he has won one title in singles and seven in doubles. In Poznan , he won his first Challenger title in doubles alongside Guido Andreozzi . He won his first individual title by beating Alex De Minaur in Segovia .

Munar made his debut on the ATP World Tour in Barcelona at the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell in 2015 , where he lost to French Benoît Paire in two sets after qualifying . In the same year he achieved his first victory on the ATP tour at the tournament in Munich , when he benefited from the abandonment of Guillermo García-López when the score was 1: 3. In the last sixteen he lost to Simone Bolelli in three sets.

In 2017 he played for the Spanish Davis Cup team for the first time .

After winning two individual challenger titles in June 2018, he made it into the top 100 of the world rankings for the first time with 87th place .
