Alejandro Davidovich Fokina (born June 5, 1999 in Málaga ) is a Spanish tennis player .

Career

Davidovich Fokina was born in Spain to a Swedish father and Russian mother. At the age of 2 he was promoted in tennis.

He was already particularly successful in his youth career. In 2017 he reached the semi-finals at the French Open , where he was defeated by Alexei Popyrin . At the tournament in Wimbledon he moved into the final a month later without losing a set, where he also won against the Argentine Axel Geller 7: 6, 6: 3. A little later he was the highest in the junior world rankings with second place.

From 2016 the Spaniard also played tennis tournaments with the professionals and won a tournament of the third-class ITF Future Tour in doubles there in October , where he hardly competed and concentrated completely on the singles. In mid-2017 he reached three finals in a row at Futures and also won his first match at an ATP Challenger Tour tournament against Pedro Cachín in Seville . At the end of the year, Davidovich Fokina was 455th in the singles. At the beginning of 2018 he won his first Future title and broke through the top 400. He was often able to play in the main draw at Challengers. Here he always achieved better results. After a few victories and a quarter-final in Caltanissetta , he was able to reach the final in Stettin - starting from the qualification. Here he lost to Guido Andreozzi . Another quarter and semi-finals followed, so that at the end of the year there was a 229th place, its record high to date. In addition, he also took part in qualifying for a Grand Slam tournament at Wimbledon for the first time that year , where he lost in the second round. In September he won his first individual title on the Challenger Tour in Seville .

On the ATP World Tour , he won his first title in his first appearance in doubles. At the side of Roberto Carballés Baena , he won the final in Santiago de Chile against second seeded Marcelo Arévalo and Jonny O'Mara and improved to 224th place in the world rankings.
