Daniel Masur (born November 6, 1994 in Bückeburg ) is a German tennis player .
Career
Daniel Masur started playing tennis at the age of five. On the junior tour he played tournaments regularly from 2009. In 2012 he played there in all four editions of the Junior Grand Slam tournaments. Only at the US Open did he get past the first round. In doubles he reached the semifinals with Jordan Thompson . In the same year he reached his highest youth placement with a combined 13th place.
From 2013 Masur took part in professional tournaments, mostly tournaments of the ITF Future Tour . On this he won his first title in doubles alongside Nils Langer . He finished his first professional year in 1086 in singles and 800th in doubles. In 2014 he won another four future titles in doubles, his first three singles titles in singles, which meant he was able to finish in the top 600 in the world rankings. In the second half of 2015, Masur achieved not only a future title but also more qualifications for tournaments on the ATP Challenger Tour . So he reached his first quarter-finals in a tournament of this category in Ningo in October .
His most successful year to date in 2016 began Masur with a future title in Schwieberdingen , where he defeated Andreas Beck . He had his greatest success in singles in August at the Challenger in Meerbusch when he advanced to the semi-finals and finally lost to Florian Mayer . In September 2016 he won his first title with Jan-Lennard Struff in Alphen aan den Rijn , followed in November in Kobe with Ante Pavić , the second title win in doubles. In the world rankings he reached his highest positions in singles with rank 265 and in doubles with rank 397 on September 12, 2016. He made his debut on the ATP World Tour in Hamburg in July 2016 when he reached the main draw of the doubles competition with Cedrik-Marcel Stebe as the lucky loser .
In September 2016 Masur made his debut for the German Davis Cup team in the relegation game against Poland . He played alongside Daniel Brands in the doubles game, which was lost in five sets.
