Galvani was not active on the ITF Junior Tour. In 1998 he played his first professional tournaments and was able to win his first title on the ITF Future Tour that year and move into the top 550 in the world rankings . In the following year he managed to move into the top 250 with good results, which allowed him to regularly take part in the higher endowed ATP Challenger Tour . In doubles he reached several semi-finals there and was also among the top 250. In September 2000 he moved into a Challenger final for the first time, where he was defeated by his compatriot Stefano Tarallo .
In 2001 he made a small breakthrough. He was in the final of four Challengers and won the title twice. He also qualified for the first time in a main field of a Grand Slam tournament in Roland Garros . Here he lost to Roger Federer . In doubles he had already won five Challengers and achieved his best placement of 148th place. Due to his improved ranking - he had meanwhile moved into the top 150 - he played most of 2002 on the ATP World Tour or in the qualification of these tournaments. In two Grand Slam tournaments, he made it into the main field. He also made it to the quarter-finals in Sopot and Barcelona , having previously defeated world number 4 Yevgeny Kafelnikov . The year remained the only year in which the Italian played for the Italian Davis Cup team . In two matches his balance was 1: 2. In 2003 Galvani continued to play at a good level for most of the time on the Challenger Tour. He made it to number 104 in the ranking. At the French Open , he achieved his first Grand Slam victory against Julien Boutter in five sets.
After a long break, the Italian returned to the tournament in 2005, where he initially had to start again with futures. He won five future titles, so that he was back in the top 200 at the end of the year. In 2006 he took part in challengers and World Tour events more often. This year he made it to the only time in two Grand Slams, in Paris and Wimbledon, to reach the second round. At the beginning of 2007 Galvani reached his career high in singles with 99th place after his 4th Challenger victory in Rabat . In September he won his 5th and final Challenger title.
From 2008 to 2010 Galvani played mostly on the Challenger Tour and partly on the Future Tour, as his placement outside the top 200 was no longer sufficient for the World Tour. After two good results in 2011, he made it back to 169th place before ending his career at the San Marino Open in 2012 .
He won 14 Challenger and 14 Future titles in his career. For San Marino he also played in four games of the small states of Europe from 2007 to 2013 , winning once gold, three times silver and three times bronze.
