Stolyarov initially celebrated success on the Challenger Tour . In his career he won one singles title and four more doubles. On the ATP World Tour he celebrated his greatest success with reaching the finals in Chennai , but lost to the Czech Michal Tabara there . In Grand Slam tournaments , he achieved his best result in 2000 in Wimbledon by reaching the third round .
In 2001 and 2002 Stolyarov was used twice in the Russian Davis Cup team . He played an individual match in each of his appearances, both against Sweden : in 2001 he defeated Magnus Norman in the quarter-finals in three sets, in 2002 he benefited from the injury-related abandonment of his opponent Andreas Vinciguerra . Stoljarov was part of the Russian team that won the Davis Cup in the 2002 season .
