José Antonio Sánchez de Luna (born October 18, 1984 in Granada ) is a former Spanish tennis player .

Career

José Antonio Sánchez de Luna played his first professional tournament in 2001. The first years of his career he was active on the lower class ITF Future Tour and ATP Challenger Tour . He won a total of six singles and ten doubles titles on the Future Tour. It made its debut on the ATP World Tour in 2004 in Valencia . With his compatriot Miguel Ángel López Jaén he received a wild card for the doubles, where they lost their opening game against the duo Igor Andrejew and Nikolai Dawydenko . In the same year he also made his debut in the individual competition through a successful qualification at the tournament in Palermo . However, he was eliminated again directly in the first round. He only managed to qualify for a main field again in 2008 . After losing to Stan Wawrinka in the first round in Barcelona , Sánchez de Luna qualified for the Masters tournament in Hamburg shortly afterwards . But even here it was already over after his opening match and he was eliminated without winning a set. In July of that year he finished with a 246th place, his best place in the world rankings .

In 2009 Sánchez de Luna was only on the Future and Challenger Tour. On the Challenger Tour he celebrated his only title in doubles in Alessandria . Together with Rubén Ramírez Hidalgo , he defeated Martín Alund and Guillermo Hormazábal 6: 4, 6: 2 in the final . He achieved his best double placement shortly afterwards with a 271st place. After this success, Sánchez de Luna only played a few tournaments on the Future Tour and ended his career after a Future tournament in Tunisia. After his career he took over the position of director at the NES Campus Tennis Club in Granada.
