The Masters Series Hamburg presented by E.ON Hanse 2008 was a tennis tournament that took place from May 12th to 18th, 2008 in Hamburg . It was part of the ATP Tour 2008 and was played outdoors on a clay court. This season it was the fifth of nine tournaments in the ATP Masters Series category . No other ATP Tour tournaments took place in the same week. The Masters in Hamburg followed the Masters tournament in Rome , which took place the previous week.

Defending champion in the singles was Roger Federer , who had to admit defeat to second seeding list Rafael Nadal in three sets with 7: 5, 6: 7, 3 and 6: 3 in the final. After the tournament victories in Monte Carlo and Barcelona, that was Nadal's third title in 2008 and the 26th overall. The twin brothers Bob and Mike Bryan were successful in doubles last year. This year they lost to tournament winners Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjić in the final with 4: 6, 7: 5 and [8:10]. That was Nestor's 51st and Zimonjić's 19th title in doubles.

The field of participants in the single competition consisted of 56 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 24 pairs. The eight top seeded players in singles or pairings in doubles each received a bye into the second round. The total prize money was 2,057,000 euros, the total financial liabilities were 2,270,000 euros.
