The Movistar Open 2008 was a tennis tournament that took place from January 28th to February 3rd, 2008 in Viña del Mar , Chile . It was part of the ATP Tour 2008 and was played outdoors on sand. It was the only tournament on the tour that week and was part of the International Series .

Luis Horna was the defending champion in the singles and was eliminated in the round of 16 this year. The first seeding list Fernando González won the tournament this year after he did not have to compete in the final because his final opponent Juan Mónaco could not compete due to an injury to his left ankle that he sustained in the double finals. In doubles, Paul Capdeville and Óscar Hernández were the defending champions. Both competed with other partners this year and were eliminated in the first round. José Acasuso and Sebastián Prieto won the title this year . In the final, they benefited from the abandonment of the duo Máximo González and Mónaco with a score of 6: 1 and 3: 0.

After the tournament was still held in round robin format in 2007 , this year the team has switched to a draw with 32 players in the singles competition and 16 pairs in the doubles competition. The total prize pool was $ 437,000 and total financial liabilities were $ 462,000.
