Luis Horna was the defending champion in the singles and was eliminated in the round of 16 this year. The first seeding list Fernando González won the tournament this year after he did not have to compete in the final because his final opponent Juan Mónaco could not compete due to an injury to his left ankle that he sustained in the double finals.
