The SAP Open 2008 was a tennis tournament that took place from February 18 to 24, 2008 in San José . It was part of the ATP Tour 2008 and was played indoors on a hard court. In the same week the Copa Telmex was played in Buenos Aires and the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam . The former, like the SAP Open, was part of the International Series , while the tournament in Rotterdam was part of the International Series Gold .

Andy Murray was the defending champion in the singles, but this year he did not appear in the tournament. In the final, the first seeding listener Andy Roddick won in two sets 6: 4 and 7: 5 against the fourth seeded Radek Štěpánek . Eric Butorac and Jamie Murray were successful in doubles the previous year; they competed with other partners this year and dropped out early. In the final, Scott Lipsky and David Martin prevailed against the Bryan brothers Bob and Mike 7: 6 4 , 7: 5.

The field of participants in the individual competition consisted of 32 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The total prize money was US $ 411,000 and the total financial liabilities were US $ 436,000.

qualification

The qualification took place from February 16-18, 2008. Four qualifying places were played, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament. There were also three lucky losers.
