The SAP Open 2010 was a tennis tournament that took place from February 6th to 14th, 2010 in San José . It was part of the ATP World Tour 2010 and was played indoors on a hard court. In the same week, the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament was played in Rotterdam and the Brasil Open in Costa do Sauípe . The latter, like the SAP Open, belonged to the ATP World Tour 250 category , while the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament belonged to the ATP World Tour 500 category .

In the individual final, Fernando Verdasco prevailed against the three-time winner of the tournament Andy Roddick with 3: 6, 6: 4, 6: 4, with which he won his fourth individual title on the ATP Tour. In doubles, Mardy Fish and Sam Querrey were successful against Benjamin Becker and Leonardo Mayer , who had thrown the tournament favorites and top seeded Bob and Mike Bryan out of the tournament in the quarterfinals . Fish and Querrey won their only joint title in San José.

The field of participants in the single competition consisted of 32 players, that of the double competition consisted of 16 pairs. The total prize pool was $ 531,000 and the total financial debt was $ 600,000.

The qualification took place from February 6th to 7th, 2010. Four qualifying places were played, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament. There was also a lucky loser.
