Lars Albert Pörschke (born June 17, 1984 in Gießen ) is a former German tennis player .

Career

Lars Pörschke played a few matches on the ITF Junior Tour and was promoted to 60th place in 2002. After only a few professional tournaments in the same year, he began studying at Baylor University in the state of Texas in 2004 , where he also played college tennis . With 119 wins and 43 defeats in the individual, he became the second most successful tennis player at the university to date. In 2008 he completed his studies with a focus on economics.

Between the semesters he also played professional tournaments and won his first future title in Germany in 2006 . In doubles he won two titles in 2007 and one title in 2008. At the beginning of 2009 he was able to climb in the world rankings after he achieved another title and a final. In February 2009, he was given a wildcard for the singles from the tournament officials in San José , which made him his first ATP Tour appearance . Against his compatriot Tommy Haas he lost in two sets. In the second half of the year he won titles two and three of the year, making him for the first time within reach of the higher endowed Challenger tournaments . In his first Challenger main draw he was in Freudenstadt , where he lost at the beginning. He made his breakthrough in November when he stormed out of qualification in Guayaquil into the semifinals, where he failed against Nicolás Lapentti . Shortly afterwards, he was at his career high with number 277. He was also ranked highest in his career in doubles with rank 315, as he had even been in the final at the same tournament with Andreas Haider-Maurer . Thanks to his ranking, Pörschke was able to participate in the qualification of the Australian Open in 2010 , where he got stuck on the second hurdle, Antonio Veić . In February he got another wildcard in San José . This time he was defeated by the Finn Jarkko Nieminen in three sets. This was his last professional match.
