The ATP World Tour Finals 2010 were a tennis tournament that took place from November 21 to 28, 2010, as in the previous year in London in the O2 Arena . It was part of the ATP World Tour 2010 and was played indoors on a hard court. It was the 41st edition of the competition in singles, the 35th in doubles. It marked the end of the 2010 tennis year.
Defending champion in the singles was Nikolai Dawydenko , who could not qualify for participation this year. In the final, Roger Federer defeated his long-time rival Rafael Nadal 6: 3, 3: 6, 6: 1. It happened for the first time since 1986 that number one and number two in the world rankings faced each other at a season finale (at that time Ivan Lendl and Boris Becker ). Federer won the tournament for the fifth time and drew level with the previous title record holders Ivan Lendl and Pete Sampras .
With Roger Federer (2003-04, 2006-07) and Novak Đoković (2008), two former winners of the tournament took part in this year's event; David Ferrer was finalist of the year 2007. With Federer and Rafael Nadal all winners and with Andy Murray , Robin Söderling , Tomáš Berdych and Novak Đoković also all other finalists of the Grand Slam tournaments of the current year took part. Berdych was both the event's only debutant and the only player without a title win in 2010.
With Bob and Mike Bryan (2003-04, 2009) and Nestor / Zimonjić (2008), two already victorious teams took part in the competition. Nestor and Max Mirny had also won the tournament with other partners. With the Bryan brothers, Nestor / Zimonjić and Melzer / Petzschner , all of the Grand Slam tournament winners of the year took part. The Wimbledon winners Melzer / Petzschner could not rank among the top eight teams in the world, but were due to the rule that Grand Slam winners may participate if they are still in the top 20 at the end of the year, nevertheless qualified. Together with the Belgian Dick Norman , they were debutants at the event. The Moodie / Norman team went into this event as the only one without a title win.
