Tennis Masters Cup 2001
The 2001 Tennis Masters Cup took place November 12-18, 2001 at the Sydney Superdome in Sydney , Australia ; it was played indoors on a hard court and was the 32nd edition of the competition. The corresponding double competition - in contrast to the following Tennis Masters Cups - did not take place in the same place, but in Bangalore , India on outdoor hard courts . The tournament was also scheduled for the end of the 2001 season, but had to be postponed between January 28 and February 3, 2002 due to security concerns. This was the 28th edition of the double competition, which was held here once under the name of the ATP World Doubles Challenge Cup . The Tennis Masters Cup was next to the four Grand Slams the most important tournament in men's professional tennis, it took place at the end of the season and is part of the ATP Tour .
The winner was the Australian Lleyton Hewitt , it was his first of two titles in the Tennis Masters Cup. The doubles competition won Ellis Ferreira and Rick Leach , for Ferreira it was the first, for Leach the second title.
