Goldflake ATP Tour World Doubles Championship 2000
The Goldflake ATP Tour World Doubles Championships 2000 were the 27th edition of the Tennis Masters Cup and represented the final doubles tournament of the season with the eight best doubles. It took place from December 13th to 17th, 2000 for the first time in Bangalore on hard court. The corresponding individual tournament, the Tennis Masters Cup , was held in Lisbon in advance from November 28th .
In contrast to all other tournaments on the ATP Tour , the final tournaments are not continuously carried out in the KO system. Instead, the eight participating pairings meet in two groups, initially in round robin mode, in which the two best doubles in both groups advance to the semi-finals. Only from this point on will the tournament be played with elimination rounds.
The prize money is also paid out in contrast to the other ATP tournaments. It is not only the placement that counts here, but the matches and sets won also contribute to the amount of the payout for the pairings. The total prize pool was $ 750,000.
The Americans Donald Johnson and Piet Norval from South Africa won, who started the tournament on five. With this success they were able to record a total of four tournament victories in the season, and it was also the 14th career title for both of them.
