The Sybase Open 2000 was the 111th edition of the hard court tennis tournament in San José . The tournament was part of the male ATP series as the International Series tournament . It took place together with the Dubai Tennis Open in Dubai and the Open 13 from February 7th to 13th, 2000. Together with the latter, it was the first indoor tournament of the season . The prize money was $ 350,000 for both the singles and doubles. In singles, 32 players competed against each other, in doubles there were 16 pairings.
The successful defending champion was Australian Mark Philippoussis , who was seeded in second place . It was his first and only title of the 2000 season and the ninth title of his career. It was also his second title at the tournament.
In doubles, the fourth-placed American pairing, consisting of Jan-Michael Gambill and Scott Humphries , won the two-year winning streak of Todd Woodbridge and Mark Woodforde . They failed in the second round. For both Americans it was the first title of their careers.
