Pablo Albano (born April 11, 1967 in Buenos Aires ) is a retired Argentine tennis player .

Career

Albano became a professional tennis player in 1986 and reached the semi-finals at the ATP Challenger tournament in Santiago de Chile the following year . In 1988 he won the doubles title at the Challenger tournament in São Paulo . In the following year he stood at the side of Gustavo Luza for the first time in the final of an ATP tournament , in 1990 he celebrated his first title on the ATP World Tour with David Engel in Geneva . In his career he won a total of nine double titles, including two in the ATP International Series Gold category . Another nine times he was in a double-final, two of them at the side of Marc-Kevin Goellner . It reached its highest world rankings in 1990 with place 192 in singles and 1997 with position 25 in doubles.

In the singles he could only qualify once for a Grand Slam tournament , in 1992 at the US Open he was eliminated in the first round. In doubles he was in the 1998 round of 16 of the Australian Open , in 1991 in the quarter-finals of Wimbledon and twice (1992, 1999) in the semi-finals of the French Open .

Albano played five doubles games for the Argentine Davis Cup team between 1993 and 1997 . At first he played alongside Javier Frana , the last three matches he played with Luis Lobo .
