The Campionati Internazionali di Sicilia 2000 was the 22nd edition of the tennis clay court tournament in Palermo . The tournament was part of the ATP series as the International Series tournament . It took place from September 25th to October 1st, 2000 and thus partially overlapped with the tennis tournament at the Olympic Games . The prize pool for both the singles and doubles tournaments was $ 350,000. In singles, 32 players competed against each other, in doubles there were 16 pairings.

Defending champion in the singles was the French Arnaud Di Pasquale , who did not take part in the tournament this year. Instead, the unseeded then 19-year-old Belgian Olivier Rochus won the first title of his career. He defeated u. a. in the semifinals his brother Christophe Rochus and finally in the finals the Italian wild card owner Daniel Nargiso .

In doubles, the Spanish-Argentine doubles consisting of Tomás Carbonell and Martin García won . They won the final without a fight against the Argentine Pablo Albano and the German Marc-Kevin Goellner . The two Argentine defending champions Mariano Hood and Sebastián Prieto failed in the second round. It was the first title of the season for Carbonell and García . While it was already his 19th double success on the tour for the Spaniard, García celebrated his third with this title.
