Qatar Mobil Open 2000

The Qatar Mobil Open 2000 was the 8th edition of the tennis hard court tournament in Doha . The tournament was part of the male ATP series as the International Series tournament . It took place together with the AAPT Championships in Adelaide and the Gold Flake Open in Chennai in the first match week of the 2000 season from January 3 to 10, 2000. The prize money was $ 975,000 for both single and double tournaments. In singles, 32 players competed against each other, in doubles there were 16 pairings.

The defending champion of the individual competition was the German Rainer Schüttler , who this year failed in the final against three seeded French Fabrice Santoro . From his point of view, Schüttler had to give up in the third set when the score was 3: 6, 7: 5, 0: 3. It was Santoro's third single win on the tour of his career.

In doubles, the unset pairing Mark Knowles and Max Mirny won , who succeeded the American doubles Alex O'Brien and Jared Palmer . For Knowles it was already the second title in Doha after 1996 and the 13th double title of his career, Mirny celebrated his sixth double success on the tour. It was their first double victory together.
