Energis Dutch Open 2000

The Energis Dutch Open 2000 was the 25th edition of the tennis clay court tournament in Amsterdam . The tournament was part of the male ATP series as the International Series tournament . It took place together with the Mercedes Cup in Stuttgart and the Croatia Open in Umag from July 17th to 23rd, 2000. The prize money for the single and double tournaments was $ 375,000. In singles, 32 players competed against each other, in doubles there were 16 pairings.

The defending champion of the individual competition was the Moroccan Younes El Aynaoui , who did not compete this year. Instead, the fourth seeded Swede Magnus Gustafsson won the fourteenth and last title of his career and his first of the season . He had previously been successful at the Dutch Open in 1991, but at that time the tournament was still taking place in Hilversum .

In doubles, the unseeded Argentine pairing Sergio Roitman and Andrés Schneiter won , who defeated the Dutch wild card owners Edwin Kempes and Dennis van Scheppingen in three sets in the final. The defending champions Sjeng Schalken and Paul Haarhuis did not compete this year. It was both Roitman's and Schneiter's first tournament victory of their careers.
