Axa Cup 2000
The Axa Cup 2000 was the 23rd edition of the indoor tennis tournament in London . It took place for the third and last time in London , from 2001 it was held again at the old place of work in Milan . The tournament was part of the male ATP series as the International Series Gold tournament . It took place at the same time as the Abierto Mexicano de Tenis Pegaso in Mexico City from February 21 to 28, 2000 on hard court. In previous years, carpets were still being played. The prize money was $ 700,000 for both the singles and doubles tournaments. In singles, 32 players competed against each other, in doubles there were 16 pairings.
Defending champion in the singles was Richard Krajicek from the Netherlands , who did not compete this year. Instead, the unseeded Swiss Marc Rosset won the 14th title of his career and the first of the season .
In doubles, the South African pairing David Adams and John-Laffnie de Jager , who were seeded three , succeeded Tim Henman and Greg Rusedski . Henman lost at the side of his partner Yevgeny Kafelnikow in the quarter-finals.
