Open 13 2000

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Open 13 2000 was the 13th edition of the indoor tennis tournament in Marseille . The tournament was part of the male ATP series as the International Series tournament . It took place together with the Dubai Tennis Open in Dubai and the Sybase Open in San José from February 7th to 13th, 2000. Together with the latter, the Open 13 was the first indoor tournament of the 2000 season . The prize pool was $ 475,000 for both the singles and doubles. In singles, 32 players competed against each other, in doubles there were 16 pairings.

The defending champion of the individual competition was Frenchman Fabrice Santoro , who placed sixth this year but failed to Roger Federer in the semifinals . He then lost out in the purely Swiss final against Marc Rosset . This was Rosset's third victory in Marseille, but the previous successes featured the tournament on carpet. It was also Rosset's first title of the season and the 22nd of his career.

In doubles, the two unseeded Swedes Simon Aspelin and Johan Landsberg won , who both celebrated the first title of their careers. The two defending champions Max Mirny and Andrei Olchowski no longer competed this year.
