Roux joined the US Open junior tournament in 1990 , but was eliminated in the first round against Andrea Gaudenzi . The following year he was French national youth champion. In his career he was twice in the final of an ATP World Tour tournament . He was clearly defeated in 1994 in Osaka against Pete Sampras and in 1997 in Tokyo in three sets against Richard Krajicek . On the ATP Challenger Tour he celebrated two individual titles, in Singapore in 1991 and in Cherbourg in 2002 . He achieved the highest ratings in the ATP world rankings in 1995 with 48th place in singles and 1996 with 246th place in doubles.
In 1997 Roux played a single game for the French Davis Cup team . In the decisive last encounter in the qualifying round for the world group in Belgium , he lost his game against Christophe van Garsse in four sets. Fabrice Santoro and Cédric Pioline had previously lost their individual and were no longer considered for the individual by team boss Yannick Noah . Guillaume Raoux had brought France back to the game by winning doubles with Santoro and singles against Filip Dewulf .
