Jelica Belović-Bernardzikowska
Jelica Belović-Bernardzikowska (* 1870 in Osijek , Kingdom of Croatia and Slavonia , Austria-Hungary ; † 1946 ) was a Bosnian - Serbian educator , ethnologist and writer as well as the editor of the first Serbian women's magazine.
Live and act
Jelica Belović-Bernardzikowska, born in Osijek, Croatia, became the director of the girls' high school in Banja Luka in 1898 and held this position until the end of the First World War . She was committed to the “ women's question ”, as emancipation was called at the time, and published numerous articles and others. a. in collaboration with Friedrich Salomon Krauss , editor of the journal Anthropophyteia: Yearbooks for Folkloric Surveys and Research on the History of the Development of Gender Morality .
On the occasion of the pan-Slavic congress in Prague in 1910 , at which Belović-Bernardzikowska presented an exhibition on women's handicrafts from Bosnia and Herzegovina , the idea for the first Serbian women's magazine Srpkinja (The Serbian Woman) was born, which was published in Sarajevo in 1913 .
